FISHING THE MIDWEST WITH BOB JENSEN WINS TELEVISION AWARD

Fishing the Midwest with Bob Jensen, a thirteen week, thirty minute television series, received the second place award in the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers(AGLOW) Excellence in Craft Award for the Television-Fishing category at the 2007 AGLOW conference held recently in Niagra Falls, New York.

AGLOW is the largest and most prestigious outdoor communicator association in the Midwest, and one of the largest and most prestigious outdoor communicator organizations in North America.

The second place award in 2007 is the eighth major award Fishing the Midwest has received in the past six years in the fishing division of AGLOW’S Awards in Craft contest.

In the same contest in 2001, Fishing the Midwest received first and third place awards, in 2002 Fishing the Midwest was awarded first and second place, in 2003 Fishing the Midwest was awarded second place, in 2004 Fishing the Midwest took third place in this competition, and in 2005 received another first place award.

Many of the most popular outdoor programs on the air are entered in these contests.

“Like Father, Like Son” was the award-winning episode for Fishing the Midwest in 2007. This episode highlighted a morning on the water with Travis Peterson and his son Jace from Bemidji, Minnesota.

Bob Jensen, the Host and Executive Producer of Fishing the Midwest recently stated, “The “Like Father, Like Son” show that won the award kind of signifies what fishing is all about to us. The show didn’t feature an exotic location or a bunch of big fish, it was just a dad and his seven year old son catching some bass and crappies and enjoying their time spent together.

I feel that’s what fishing should mostly be about: Families and friends enjoying time together, and fishing is the perfect way for them to do that”.

Jensen continued, “Travis and Jace did a great job of catching the fish and sharing the experience, and our production team of Brian Dellis, Don Koshiol, and Bill Coit from Lifetouch Media did their usual outstanding job of putting the show together.

At Fishing the Midwest, we don’t produce shows with the goal of winning an award. We just want to share the fishing experience and help anglers catch more fish and enjoy their fishing even more. Evidently our viewers like that philosophy, because, according to ratings, Fishing the Midwest is the most popular outdoor show in many markets across the Midwest”.

Fishing the Midwest is nationally recognized as one of the leaders in fishing education and entertainment in the field of outdoor communications. In addition to an award-winning television series, Bob Jensen produces a syndicated weekly fishing column, an outdoor radio show, and is the featured speaker at fishing seminars.

Fishing the Midwest with Bob Jensen is sponsored by the most progressive fishing equipment and marine suppliers in the world.
