FISHING THE MIDWEST WITH BOB JENSEN WINS TELEVISION AWARD

Fishing the Midwest with Bob Jensen, a thirteen week, thirty minute television series, received the second place award in the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers(AGLOW) Excellence in Craft Award for the Television-Fishing category at the 2010 AGLOW conference held recently in Ashland, Wisconsin. AGLOW is the largest and most prestigious outdoor communicator association in the Midwest, and one of the largest and most prestigious outdoor communicator organizations in North America.

“The Scoop with Coop” was the award-winning episode for Fishing the Midwest in 2010. This episode highlighted a day on Lake Oahe in South Dakota with John Cooper. “Coop” is retired from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and also served as the Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks for twelve years.

Bob Jensen, the Host and Executive Producer of Fishing the Midwest recently commented, “We don’t make episodes of Fishing the Midwest to win awards, but sometimes they just happen. This was one of those times. “Coop” is a special person and I’m fortunate to call him friend. “Coop” has made serving others his life, whether it was in the jungles of Viet Nam or the prairies and lakes of South Dakota. We spent a day on Lake Oahe with Coop, he told us of some of the events of his life, then we made a tv show of that story. It just so happened that show won an award. The folks at AGLOW do an outstanding job of selecting award winning shows, and we’re very proud that they again chose an episode of Fishing the Midwest for an award.”

Jensen continued, “Coop did a great job of relating his experiences, and our production team of Brian Dellis, Don Koshiol, and Bill Coit from Lifetouch Media did their usual outstanding job of putting the show together. The Lifetouch guys are experts at mixing the story, the video, and all the other things necessary to create fishing shows that viewers genuinely enjoy”.

The second place award in 2010 is the ninth major award Fishing the Midwest has received in the fishing division of AGLOW’S Awards in Craft contest. In the same contest in 2001, Fishing the Midwest received first and third place awards, in 2002 Fishing the Midwest was awarded first and second place, in 2003 Fishing the Midwest was awarded second place, in 2004 Fishing the Midwest took third place in this competition, in 2005 received another first place award, and in 2007 Fishing the Midwest received a second place award. Many of the most popular outdoor programs on the air are entered in these contests.

Fishing the Midwest is nationally recognized as one of the leaders in fishing education and entertainment in the field of outdoor communications. In addition to an award-winning television series, Bob Jensen produces a syndicated weekly fishing column, an outdoor radio show, and is the featured speaker at fishing seminars. Fishing the Midwest with Bob Jensen is sponsored by the most progressive fishing equipment and marine suppliers in the world.
